What is a cat cafe?
The Kitty Cup is just like a regular coffee shop but better because we have cats! The cafe and cat room are separated by a wall that includes a giant 10 ft window. Our goal is to provide a fun, low-stress environment for adoptable cats to meet and socialize with other cats and cat lovers. The Kitty Cup is a giant foster home, housing cats from shelters that are already at capacity. Our goal is to increase adoptions, while providing a higher quality of life for the cats while they await their forever home. We are proudly partnered with The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast and The Humane Society of St. Lucie County.
Do you accept walk-ins or by reservation only?
There is available seating in our cafe on a first come first serve basis. For the cat room, we will always accept walk-ins when available. However, we strongly recommend making a reservation in order to guarantee your desired date and time in the cat room. Our cat room can accommodate 8-12 guests comfortably, but our capacity depends on the number of cats residing with us.
Don’t worry! If the cat room is full you can come enjoy the cafe space, meet with friends, or do some work while having a drink and a snack. Complimentary WiFi is available to our customers.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your reservation to ensure a timely check-in.
How many cats are at the cafe?
On average we will house 10-15 cats. We are allowed to house up to 20.
How does it work?
The Kitty Cup consists of a cafe and a cat room. In the cafe, we serve coffee, hot and iced teas, lemonade, beer, wine and so much more! We also offer a selection of pastries, snacks, sandwiches, salads, and charcuterie. All cats are housed in the cat room, which is a separate area from the cafe. There is no paid entry required for the cafe, only the cat room.
You can bring your drink and snacks from the cafe into the cat room and hang out with the cats for an hour. We recommend finding somewhere comfortable and letting the cats come to you, no need to worry, they will! The cat room is where our adoptable cats call home so you can expect for them to behave in the same way they would at home. The cats will be playing, climbing, eating, and sleeping. Each visit to The Kitty Cup will be a different experience based on the cats. Some visits the cats will be full of action and zoomies and others the cat room can be very zen and peaceful. All cats in the cat room are available to adopt, if you happen to find your purrfect match you could take them home the same day.
Do cats enter the cafe area?
NEVER. All of our cats are housed in the cat room and under no circumstances do they enter the cafe. For the health and safety of all, when cats arrive at and/or depart the Kitty Cup they are never transported through the cafe.
Is this sanitary?
Yes! The cats never enter the cafe. We are consistently maintaining a clean environment for our cats and our guests. We make sure that our cats (and people too!) are in an environment that is clean, sanitized, and scent-free! We have air purifiers running throughout the cat room at all times.
Our staff does not move from their designated work area. Our cat room attendants never enter the food preparation areas and baristas never enter the cat room. This helps ensure a clean healthy space for all of our visitors.
Are the cats adoptable?
Yes! All cats housed in the cat room are available for adoption through our partnership with The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast and The Humane Society of St Lucie County. We will help you complete the adoption process! All of our cats are fully vetted, microchipped, health screened, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated through The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast & The Humane Society of St. Lucie County before arriving at the cafe.
Why do I have to pay to see the cats?
There is no cost to enter the cafe. If you would like to enter the cat room the fee is $15 per hour. Reservations are not required but highly recommended. The entry fee allows us to continue saving lives. The proceeds of visiting the cat room go to providing a safe, healthy foster home for cats until they find their forever homes. It helps us pay for all the expenses associated with housing the cats including rent, utilities, toys, beds, treats, supplies, our caring staff and so much more. All adoption fees go 100% to the Humane Societies.
Can I change or cancel my reservation?
Yes! You can reschedule your reservation; however, please note that reservations are non-refundable once booked. To reschedule, use the link provided in your email, ensuring it’s done at least 24 hours in advance. If you have multiple reservations, each must be rescheduled individually. If you’re unable to attend, we kindly consider it a donation to our kitties, as we cannot issue refunds.
Are kids allowed?
At The Kitty Cup, the safety and well-being of both our cats and guests of all ages is our top priority. To create an enjoyable experience for everyone in the cat room, we’ve established a child policy.
Guests must be at least 5 years old to enter, and children between the ages of 5-12 must be accompanied by an adult. For the safety of both our young visitors and our cats, children aged 4 and under are not permitted in the cat room. We understand that the delicate skin of babies and young children, combined with the sharp claws of our feline friends, requires extra caution. Your little ones’ safety is our utmost concern.
I found my purrfect match! How do I adopt?
The adoption process is done completely through The Humane Societies. The fee to adopt a cat from The Kitty Cup is $50. Your application can be processed on the spot and your kitty can go home with you that day. 100% of the adoption fee goes to the shelter. Adopters must be 18 years old and present a valid photo ID.
If you have found your purrfect feline friend, let a team member know, and they will help you begin the adoption process.
Can I bring my own cat?
Nope, we have more than enough here to cuddle and play with. We welcome service dogs in the cafe area only.
Can you take in cats?
Unfortunately, we are not an intake facility and we cannot accept cats directly. The Kitty Cup acts as a foster home and adoption center but we are not a rescue. To do so would jeopardize the health and well-being of the cats in our care. We do not possess the proper permits to accept cats directly. All of our cats must be fully vetted, spayed/neutered and vaccinated through The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast & The Humane Society of St. Lucie County before arriving at the cafe. We are aware that there is an abundant need for intake resources, we recommend reaching out to local rescues for assistance. If you have a cat to surrender, please review the resources available below.

Do you have merchandise?
Yes! We have Kitty Cup T-shirts! In the Cafe, we sell a small selection of items such as handmade jewelry and other cat-themed knick-knacks.
How can I be involved?
We are not hiring at this time, but you can support us by liking and following our social media pages. If you would like to help by volunteering, our rescue partners can always use some extra hands.

Where do your cats come from?
We are in a proud partnership with The Humane Society of The Treasure Coast and The Humane Society of St. Lucie County. All of our cats are fully vetted, health screened, spay/neutered and vaccinated before arriving at the cafe. The Humane Society of St. Lucie County and The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, each official no-kill shelters, were founded in 1956 and 1955, respectively. These two organizations combined find homes for over 4,000 animals a year!
What if I am allergic to cats?
No Problem! Our cafe and cat room are completely separate areas. You can still enjoy a drink or snack while admiring the cats through our ten-foot viewing window. Our cats are secured safely inside the cat room, they never enter the cafe, and all areas are cleaned regularly. We want all of our guests to feel welcome and comfortable.
What kind of food/drinks do you serve?
Our cafe features a full espresso bar also including pour over coffee, tea, lemonade, wine, beer, and assorted soft drinks. We carry Kitty Town coffee, which is out of Lebanon, PA. Every bag of Kitty Town coffee they sell feeds a shelter cat for a week. We also carry Tractor Teas. Their mission statement is to create a cleaner, healthier planet one drink at a time. Their product is organically crafted and sustainably sourced. The cafe will have snacks like charcuterie items, salads, sandwiches, and much more available for purchase as well.
